Polymarket Review 2026: US Availability, CFTC Status, CS2 and Soccer Coverage

Game of Skill · Platform Review Polymarket
Review (2026)

The largest prediction market in the world by volume. CFTC-approved since November 2025. US access is waitlist-only. Here is what that means in practice and how it stacks up against Kalshi.

Game of Skill Verdict Polymarket

The highest-volume prediction market in the world. For CS2 Majors and Champions League knockout rounds, its liquidity depth beats anything else available. US access is federally approved but currently waitlist-only, with state-level challenges in Massachusetts, Nevada, and Tennessee. For most US players, Kalshi is the right starting point. Join the Polymarket waitlist at the same time and use both once access opens.

What the CFTC approval means for US players today.

Polymarket is federally legal in the US as of November 2025 when the CFTC issued approval following its acquisition of a regulated US derivatives exchange. A US-specific platform launched in December 2025 but remains invite-only with a waitlist. The international exchange is geoblocked for US IP addresses.

The US exchange uses regulated intermediaries rather than direct crypto wallet connections. Liquidity on the US platform is lower than the international exchange while the user base builds. Massachusetts, Nevada, and Tennessee have active state-level challenges through cease-and-desist orders and court filings. Polymarket blocks access automatically in those states.

The practical path for US players: sign up for the waitlist now, start with Kalshi while you wait. Once both are active, use them alongside each other.

The basics of how Polymarket operates.

Polymarket is a prediction market where you trade contracts on real-world outcomes. Every market is a yes or no question. A contract resolves to $1 if the event occurs and $0 if it does not. The price at any moment reflects collective probability estimates from participants. You trade against other participants at market price. There is no house setting odds against you.

On major CS2 tournaments and Champions League knockout rounds, Polymarket's liquidity allows position sizes that Kalshi currently cannot match. That is the main reason to use both. The international version runs on the Polygon blockchain and requires a USDC-funded crypto wallet. The US version routes through regulated intermediaries and reduces some of that friction, but crypto is still in the picture. For anyone not already comfortable with wallets and stablecoins, the setup is harder than Kalshi. See the prediction markets explainer for how contract mechanics work.
