ProphetX Review 2026
ProphetX is a sports exchange that became federally regulated in June 2026. Traders take each other’s side, and it charges a commission on winnings instead of building a margin into the price.
ProphetX is a CFTC regulated, peer to peer exchange live in 49 states plus DC, not Nevada. You back an outcome or lay it, and it takes 2% of net gains in each market and nothing on losing trades.
It covers the NFL, NBA, college football and basketball, MLB, NHL, soccer, golf, tennis, UFC and motorsports, with player props and peer to peer parlays. Esports coverage is limited, and smaller markets can take longer to match than on Kalshi or Polymarket.
At a glance
Good and not so good
Good
- CFTC regulated as both an exchange and a clearing house
- No margin in the price, commission only on winning trades
- Back or lay: take either side of an outcome
- Multi-event combinations priced directly with other traders
Not so good
- Esports coverage is limited
- Smaller markets can take longer to match
- Newer as a regulated exchange than Kalshi
- State list has changed since its sweepstakes days
How it works
ProphetX is peer to peer. You can back an outcome (you think it happens) or lay it (you think it does not), and your trade is matched with someone taking the other side. You can take a price that is already posted or post your own and wait for a match.
There is no margin built into the price. ProphetX takes 2% of net gains in each market and nothing on losing trades. Both stakes are held until the result is official, then the trade settles.
Back or lay
The two sides of every market.
Buy the outcome. You win if it happens, and pay commission only on the profit.
Take the other side. You win if it does not happen. This is the role a house would normally play.
