How Kalshi NBA player props work

Updated Oct 27, 2026. All prices as of 1:19 PM ET on Oct 27.

Kalshi lists NBA player props as a ladder of yes/no steps: 20+ points, 25+ points, 30+ and up. Each step’s price in cents is the market’s chance the player gets there, so a 60¢ step pays $1 if he reaches it and reads as about a 60% chance.

On Oct 27, Kalshi has points, rebounds, assists, threes and points-rebounds-assists steps for players in all four NBA games: Nets at Celtics, Pistons at Knicks, Kings at Spurs and Trail Blazers at Lakers. Every player’s live numbers are on NBA USAGE.

A real ladder: Jayson Tatum, Oct 27

Tatum is questionable (rest) for Nets at Celtics. His points steps on Kalshi at 1:19 PM ET:

  • 20+ points: 79¢

  • 25+ points: 60¢

  • 30+ points: 35¢

  • 35+ points: 16¢

NBA USAGE turns each full ladder, including the low steps that sit near 100¢, into one points projection. For Tatum on Oct 27 that projection was 24.9 points, with a likely range of 22 to 31. The range runs from the highest step priced near 70¢ or more to the highest step priced near 30¢ or more.

The questionable tag matters. A rest decision can move every step on his ladder at once. If a player is ruled out, NBA USAGE drops him from the team share, so the shares of his teammates rise.

A second ladder from the same game shows a smaller role. Payton Pritchard had 10+ at 80¢, 15+ at 58¢, 20+ at 32¢ and 25+ at 13¢, for a 15.7-point projection and a 12 to 21 range. That came to 20% of the Celtics’ 76.6 projected points, against 33% for Tatum.

How often Kalshi points prices hit

A price is only useful if it tracks results. NBA USAGE grades every points step after the game. Over the last five nights through Oct 27, steps hit at these rates:

  • Steps under 30¢ hit 13% of the time across 2,643 steps

  • Steps from 30¢ to 50¢ hit 40% across 935 steps

  • Steps from 50¢ to 70¢ hit 63% across 1,024 steps

  • Steps from 70¢ to 90¢ hit 82% across 1,117 steps

  • Steps at 90¢ and up hit 96% across 128 steps

Each band hit close to its price, so a 60¢ step behaved much like a 60% chance over that stretch. Final scores landed inside the likely range 62% of the time.

Share of team points

Share is a player’s projection divided by his team’s projected total, with players ruled out left off. The highest shares on Oct 27 were Cade Cunningham at 38% of the Pistons’ 57.1 points, Michael Porter Jr. at 35% of the Nets’ 58.2, Luka Dončić at 34% of the Lakers’ 88.6 and Tatum at 33%. A high share on a low team total, as with the Pistons, means the prices lean on one player. Minutes and rotation context sit on NBA ROLES.

Where the trading money goes

Dollar volume shows which ladders draw the most attention. In the 24 hours to 1:19 PM ET on Oct 27, the most traded points ladders on Kalshi were Payton Pritchard at $7.7K, Jalen Brunson at $7.0K, Luka Dončić at $6.1K and Karl-Anthony Towns at $5.0K. Thin ladders deserve less trust. Derrick White had $27 traded, so a single order can move his steps.

Polymarket also lists some NBA points markets. NBA USAGE shows a Polymarket price only when at least $500 has traded and the gap between buy and sell prices is 8¢ or less. For fees and market types on both apps, see NBA prediction markets on Kalshi and Polymarket.
