Vitality vs magic Prediction and Picks: StarSeries Fall, Thursday 8:30 AM ET
Prices were taken Wednesday morning ET and move right up to lock. The WIRE logs every move on both exchanges as it happens.
The game
Vitality play magic at 8:30 AM ET, best of three. The market has Vitality at 81 cents, about 80 once the cost of trading comes out.
We are not publishing our number on this one just yet. AW is out for the event and magic are standing in their coach, eksiver. Our rating for magic was built on a five with AW in it, so the win probability behind it is stale in the direction that matters. Losing a starting rifler and replacing him with a coach is a real downgrade. We will have it repriced on MARKET once the rating is redone.
What the stand-in actually costs
Two things, and they compound. The first is the obvious one: a coach who has not played competitively at this level in some time is not a like-for-like replacement for a starting rifler, whatever his ceiling once was. The second is less obvious and often larger. A five that has practiced together builds timings, and swapping any member resets some of that on no notice. magic are not just down a player, they are playing a version of themselves they have barely rehearsed.
That matters most in the places CS2 punishes hesitation: executes that need five people arriving at once, and retakes where one slow rotation loses the round. It is why stand-in games tend to run worse for the affected side than a straight comparison of the two players would suggest.
Players
ZywOo is the clear standout, the highest CARNAGE on the slate, and the shares in this game were calculated before the stand-in. On the pre-change five he topped the board 44 percent of the time, already the largest number on Thursday. A weaker opponent does not lower that.
flameZ (92) and ropz (91) are the riflers behind him, with mezii (82) and apEX (77, IGL) filling out a five that has been excellent over the past couple of years.
For magic, tenzy at 88 is the one to watch. mo0N (83) holds the AWP. MaSvAl and sFade8 (IGL) complete the side alongside eksiver.
The read
The direction is not in doubt and the size is. Vitality were already the favorite before magic lost a starter, and a stand-in game moves the true number further their way, not less.
If you want a position here before we have it, the thing to watch is the price itself. A market that has not moved on the stand-in news is a market that has not priced it, and the WIRE logs every move on both exchanges as it happens.
Where the numbers come from
The player ratings are on CARNAGE, the series shapes on RANGE, our number against the live price on MARKET, and the current five for every team, with the stand-in dated, on LINEUPS.
Where to trade it
The series and the tournament winner are on both Polymarket and Kalshi. Polymarket has the deeper liquidity on StarSeries; new users get $50 on a $10 deposit with code SKILL.
Win probabilities are approximate and subject to change. Good luck!
